The 2nd Kakiscript Playwriting Competition -- Results! by Kakiseni
The wait is over, (and the delay greatly regretted), but we are happy to finally announce the winners of the 2nd Kakiscript Playwriting Competition!
But before we can let that proverbial drum roll, some explanation on the winners list is necessary.
The judges, after careful thought and much deliberation, have come to the collective decision that NO 1st prize will be awarded. There will also only be SIX consolation prizes instead of the usual seven. This difficult decision was made in keeping with the aim of maintaining the high standard expected of all winners, especially the Grand Prizewinner, of the competition.
So as it stands, there will be prizes awarded for both 2nd and 3rd place, receiving RM5,000 each; and six consolation prizes awarded, receiving RM2,000 each.
And those eight winning plays are:
2nd Place : Ini Tak Boleh Ni by Rosheen Fatima
3rd Place: Terbang Dengan Rileksnya by Nor Atiqah bt. Mohd. Zaini
Six Consolation Prizes: (in alphabetical order)
1) A Question of Race by Sandra Rajoo
2) Bill, Please! by Teng Ky-Gan
3) Nasi Lemak 10 Sen by Muhamad Yusuf Amat
4) Pagi Lawan, Malam Kawan? by Shasha Kamini Supramaniam
5) Panacea by Woon Su Li Angeline
6) Terror in the South China Sea by Ridzwan Othman
The prizegiving ceremony and launch of the 2nd Kakiscript book of winning plays will take place on:
Date: Sat, 6 March 2010 (4pm)
Venue: The Annexe, Central Market (Part of Art For Grabs March 2010's fringe events)
A great big Thank You to everyone who participated in the competition, and Congratulations to all the winners!
