Meet 2008 BBC National Short Story Award winner Clare Wigfall who will be coming to Malaysia this March to do research for her next book set in British Malaya.
“It’s fictional, but is loosely based on the story of my grandmother who grew up in Penang and about her mother who left her when she was a small baby.”
Clare's debut collection of short stories The Loudest Sound and Nothing was published in 2007 to critical acclaim. In 2008 she won the internationally renowned BBC National Short Story Award for her short story The Numbers. Clare has lived in London, Berkeley and Prague. She currently lives in Berlin.
Clare will talk about her work and about her latest project – her novel. She will also do a reading from her collection of disturbing and darkly provocative stories.
